Road Survival Skills 2010
comes to Seremban!
On 20 November 2010, Tribe Toyota members and their friends in Seremban received lessons that would last them a lifetime. Ninety-eight people attended the Road Survival Skills workshop at Klana Resort, Seremban. Now in its third successful year, this workshop has had its presence felt in cities like Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, to name but a few. Now, it was Seremban’s turn to take in useful knowledge on personal safety and security while on the road.
The day kicked off with registration, a light breakfast and a brief speech by Chiew Sang Boon, branch manager of Seremban Sales Centre. Then, the session was promptly handed over to the man in charge: Captain K. Balasupramaniam. Founder of Malaysian Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association and Road Safety Marshall Club, he is a well-known safety activist and has received awards for his volunteer work. He was assisted by facilitator Michael Chong.
In over two and a half hours, Captain K. Bala (as he is popularly known) shared with the audience a variety of tips and advice, culled from almost two decades of experience in safety and rescue operations. Captain K. Bala engaged the audience thoroughly by sharing real emergency experiences. Though the subject matter was serious, he certainly lightened the mood with his humorous approach. The audience was educated and entertained at the same time. Amongst the highlights was a demonstration on how to handle pepper sprays and how to operate the LifeHammer, a life-saving device which can
break glass and cut seatbelts free during an emergency. The LifeHammer was also presented as a gift to all participants – check out what it can do here.
Before calling it a day, participants were invited to tuck into a delicious buffet spread. While they mixed and mingled amongst each other, they no doubt shared in the experience they just had. Read on what the participants had to say in the Testimonials.
