A FUN RUN IN THE PARK
7 June 2010, Taiping
Small and serene with a cozy rustic touch to it. Heritage Town, or more popularly known as Taiping town was where the
Toyota Fun Run 2010 took place on 5 June. The event brought friends and family of the close knit community together for a day out at the monumental Lake Gardens to participate not just in a run, but also a treasure hunt and some indoor games too.
In conjunction with the launch of “Minggu Tanpa Tembakau” by the Ministry of Health, UMW Toyota Motor organised this community campaign to promote healthier living among the residents here. The event was also a joint effort between
Local Agenda 21 and Majlis Perbandaran Taiping, which saw a successful turnout of 500 people on that day.
New friendships were fostered as the day kicked off with 70 odd participants racing through the park and on to the finish line, all in good healthy competition. From finish line, to all over the park, the folks then went about in excitement hunting treasure in the park while appreciating the blessings of Mother Nature. Meantime, some kids were busy showing off their creativity in a colouring contest.
Toyota Fun Run 2010 wasn’t just about fun and games, but prizes as well. Winners of the race took home deserving trophies while the rest of the crowd was treated to free goodies and a lucky draw to end the day.
All in all, it was a fun filled day outdoors and participants were pleased. Some had asked if the Toyota Fun Run was going to be an annual affair because they had enjoyed themselves a great deal. Well, let’s just hope we’ll see another successful day out with the community soon.
